In Wallonia, this project restores and transforms an old greenhouse into an artists' residence. This 19th-century greenhouse was built by Édouard Keilig, who designed the Bois de la Cambre in Brussels. It once housed a collection of 100 species of palm trees. Today, the structure has been converted into four housing-ateliers, allowing residents to open their ateliers toward the greenhouse, which serves as a free common space for all the inhabitants. The greenhouse area serves as an unheated intermediate space that can be seen as an extension of the living room. It passively captures heat and maintains an above-average temperature. This partially underground project helps keep the building cool. The facades are made of recycled brick from the original 19th-century structure.
